Now you have me intrigued regarding this sofa! Although, not without a little trepidation ot the results! LOL

You do have a good point regarding the precedences set by other areas of the grid. I suppose, in part, I simply do not think like other people. It never crossed my mind, even as a newcomer, to enter anything that did not remotely resemble a public building or shop without an invitation from the current tenants.

When I send an IM to someone who has left prim litter about, the most common response I get is an apology and the comment that they did not realize that it was A. Private property and/or B. that things were not automagically cleaned up.
I suspect that the mainland customs of putting up banlines everywhere, as well as customs in other online communities cause people (especially the new) to think that it is all a big museum for them to explore.
Now when someone sitbugs through a locked door, that is another matter altogether. I am happy to share my special sofa with anyone who wishes, it has hovertext indicating it is private property and NOT to be sat upon :) The results are quite amusing.

Oh my! Even had you been in a public place, I cannot imagine what thought process would cause a person to simply stop in the middle of a group conversing...let alone walk into someone's home and do the same. I would hope it was a simple matter of a language barrier (and perhaps a bit of the dreaded phenomena of lag), but I must admit the roleplaying moment sounds entertaining!

I would have felt bad ejecting him myself. In the time that I've held Westmoreland, I cannot recall ever ejecting someone. I did threaten many evils upon the individual who set up the car dealership in Westmoreland airspace, some several hundred feet above my own little skybox. But, that was upon extreme provocation.

I prefer to try and lead by example, than by restrictions, which is why only the Preserve has auto-return set. And even that is set to somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 hours. But, the Preserve is intended as public land for the enjoyment of all Caledon and her sister realms. I maintain a responsibility, then, to see that it is kept nice. But on the residential side, I prefer a more open approach.

It's a double-edged sword, I suppose, leaving oneself open has the not-so-delightful side effect of, well, leaving oneself open. heh.

Although, I suppose I could do what I would do where someone to enter my non-virtual abode unannounced and greet such guests with the business end of one of my broadswords!

I am inclined to agree with the assessment in your last line, Miss Urqhart.

Along those lines, I was entertaining guests in my modest cottage in Caledon Downs a few days ago when a gentleman walked in and proceeded to stand in front of my couch, blocking my view of one of my guests. He said nothing. We tried various methods of communication, ultimately inferring that the man did not speak English. After about ten minutes of silence (including a humorous RP-ing moment where we nominated the gentleman for a human sacrifice and took his silence for assent), I ejected him - my first ejectee!

I felt somewhat badly about giving him the boot, but I had the same thought as you: would he have simply walked through my typist's front door? (Answer: no, because it's locked. :) )

*chuckles* Five is actually more than anyone on LiveJournal or InsaneJournal has come up with. Five people guessing have only named nine songs. So, feel free to post your five guesses here and earn yourself some kudos! ;-D

(For all my very eclectic listening habits, I never get more than four or five songs on these things myself. Actually, that's probably BECAUSE of those eclectic tastes! LOL)

A paltry five for me. I'm not afraid to admit that my musical knowledge has enormous gaps (or that I'm very bad at associating lyrics with song titles), but you've inspired me to summon up "Impartial" one more time. :)

Thanks for reading! :-)

I think this may have been helped along by a conversation about self and relationships I had last week with my first boyfriend from high school, who I've actually remained pretty good friends with -- better than said college boyfriend. (Hearing that the way my mind works is amazing, in a good way, has remarkable benefits to my self-perception! LOL) Except for certain moments my sixteenth year, I was an odd duck in H.S. Surprisingly MUCH more stable than I have been since, at least until I started trying to get back to that old me. :-D

Excellent post, Kirasha!

I followed much the same path earlier in my life. I also tried, for a while, to be someone I wasn't (a social butterfly) in SL, and came to the conclusion that I'd rather be me than try to be someone else in SL, just as in first life.

Thanks for a great article!

Welcome~! Please feel free to stop by any time. :-)

The hat is awesome, isn't it? I should dig up the SLurl for the full outfit, which I didn't get at Dark Victorian. The store I bought it at has all sorts of fun little hats and dresses like it. I think it goes best with that hair style, too. I tried it with a long, loose style and it doesn't have that same jaunty feel as on top of the 'proper' up-do. :-D

I like the new you that you have chosen for yourself but best of all the hat. LOL silly but it is a statement all in it's own. I am new to this forum and I was just looking around.
Oh! That's fabulous! Thanks for the tip. I'm hoping to try and get back to see more before it closes if I can get things cleaned up enough around here I won't be embarrassed to have company over in a couple days. This will be a great resource to help decide where to go to check it out next.

Thank you! Both for your kind comments and for stopping by. :-) The prim limits took a couple days for me to get used to, but once I had a rough idea what average prim counts for different items could run, it was easier to figure out how to work around the limits. I really ought to remember to link to the place I got the houses from, though. I keep forgetting to get the links every time I'm in-world. LOL
